AVP Data Engineering

As our AVP - Data Engineering you will ingest data from multiple sources and relay information and actionable insights to relevant partners to accelerate the growth and transformation of our analytics landscape. Leveraging your extensive technical and business expertise, you will be recognized as a thought leader internally and externally. In this role, you will mentor and lead teams designing and building data solutions that capture, explore, transform and utilize data to support Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and business intelligence/insights.

In your new role, you will be engineering innovative solutions to strengthen our data visualization capabilities, including security/access integration and end-to-end automation. You will play a key role in implementing data discovery, services monitoring, and data governance features into the data services product, and make sure the product capabilities evolve optimally over time to serve cross-functional users.

Responsibilities

• Implement and develop analytic data products, data movement and data persistence capability from pilot/proof of concept to production, ongoing support, and maintenance.
• Recommend data strategies to support various consumption patterns, including enterprise architectures, platforms and application infrastructure.
• Oversee the operationalizing and automating of all capabilities to ensure secure, supported and scalable solutions.
• Present recommendations to senior management and executives and influence decisions at the executive level.
• Guide and coach senior team members and managers to accelerate career development.
• Attend Daily Business calls for respective games and expertise in stakeholder management.

Requirements

• Total 15-18 yrs of experience with at least 7+ years experience of working as a data engineer in a big data field and 5+ years of people leadership/ management experience.
• Solid working knowledge of enterprise-grade database technologies and languages (SQL, NoSQL)
• Proficient in AWS cloud services including, EMR, lambda, AWS batch, Athena, airflow, glue, RDS, CloudWatch, etc.
• Strong understanding and proven experience working on scalable data architectures for batch and near real-time use-cases
• Proven experience in implementing best practices in the development of robust data pipelines, as well as data governance
• Strong understanding of Spark with Scala/Python, distributed computing concepts and Hadoop components
• Exposure and knowledge in the following technologies is advantageous:
  • Database & Big Data Platforms – MS SQL, Athena, Snowflake, JDBC/ODBC
  • Programming and Scripting – Python, Scala, Shell Script, REST API
• Experienced with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes, and Agile methodologies like Scrum and Kanban
• Understands the best practices of code versioning, testing, CICD, Kubernetes/Docker and documentation
• Good team player, with strong analytical skills and enjoys complex problem-solving with innovative ideas
• Strong communication/people skills are required to interact with data analysts, business end-users and vendors to design and develop solutions.
